The Birth Date Information
1. Write down your full date of birth. You’ll need this. Let’s use a fictitious DOB to show you examples: July 22, 1987
2. The first calculation you need is your Life Path. Add the numbers in your date of birth (DOB) straight across, from left to right. If your DOB contains an 11 or 22 in the month or day, add this number as is. These are master numbers, and we do not reduce them:
- July 22, 1987, becomes 7+22+1+9+8+7
- This works out to 54. For now, reduce this to a single digit: 5+4=9
- We would have stopped there if the number had reduced to a multiple of 11.
- Please note: years like 1988 or 2022 are not master numbers. They would be added as 1+9+8+8 or 2+0+2+2 because they are entire numbers, not 19 and 88 or 20 and 22.
3. The following number you will figure out is your Personal Year. Add your day and month of birth to the year in question. This gives you a Personal Year number from your most recent birthday to your next birthday.
- So, using the above birthday, 7 + 22 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 3 = 36. 3 + 6 = 9 gives a Personal Year Number that will affect our client from their birthday this year, in July, to their birthday next year.
- If you haven’t had your birthday yet, you will calculate your Personal Year Number using the number from last year. So if we were looking at our fictitious birthday BEFORE July 22, 2023, we would add 7+22+2+0+2+2=35 3+5=8
4. The following number we need is the Personal Month. Add your Personal Year to the month in question. So, our fictitious person would be experiencing the following Personal Month Numbers in November:
- Like the Personal Year, the Personal Month revolves around the birthday. Our imaginary person was born on July 22, so their monthly energy runs from the 22nd to the 22nd of each month. Personal energies only line up neatly with the calendar when the client is born on January 1.
- Because of their 22nd birthday, we must start with their Personal Month Number for October: Personal Year + Month In Question = Personal Month, so 9 + 10 = 19. This further reduces to 1, but 19 is actually a karmic number so that I would look at this too. From October 22 to November 22, this person is experiencing a karmic 19/1 Personal Month Number.
- From November 22 to December 22, the calculation would look like this: 9 + 11 = 20, 2 + 0 = 2. For the last eight days of November, this person would experience a 2 Personal Month, which would extend into December 9.
5. The last number we need is the Personal Day. This is done by adding the date in question to the Personal Month Number:
- So, what day is our pretend person experiencing on November 4? Personal Month + Day In Question = Personal Day Number 1+4=5, or if we want to work with the karmic 19: 19+4=23
- This is a number that relates to the Royal Star of the Lion. 23 is a special number of protection and success. However, it is easier to work with single digits, so 5 is the Personal Day Number for November 4, 2023, for our imaginary person. This is a day that relates to changing situations, being adaptable, plans shifting, new information being revealed, inquisitiveness, sociability, communication, learning, functioning within a busy environment, and practical jokes – the things associated with Mercury are front and center on this day.
- If we want to be super precise, the Personal Day runs from the time of birth to the time of birth 24 hours later.
Let’s Look At Name Analysis!
Write out your full name at birth in block letters across the top of a clean sheet of paper. Give space between each letter and space between each of your names. Use the number chart and put the correct number underneath each letter. Take your time. Make sure you have scrap paper handy or your phone calculator open.

Cornerstone: The value of the first letter of your first name. It sets the energy for your chart. So if you have a 1 Cornerstone, for example, you infuse your core chart with independent energy. You like to start things, you’re probably enthusiastic about new things, and you want to be in charge.
Expression: This is the sum of all the consonants in your name. I usually circle the consonant and its corresponding number value when casting a chart. I go through all the names — first, middle, and last — and do this before adding. It makes things a lot easier.
Add up all the numbers corresponding to the consonants in your full name. You’ll most likely get a double-digit. Add those digits until you get 11, 22, 33, or a single digit. This is your Expression Number. This number shows your public face. It is what people notice first about you. Your Expression can also hint at what you might be most successful at, how you like to present yourself, the type of clothing you prefer, and even the kind of car you might drive.
Heart: This is the sum of all the vowels in your name. I usually underline the numbers underneath their corresponding vowel after I’ve circled the consonants. It just makes life easier. Your heart number shows what you keep to yourself. This is your soul self, and within this number vibration, we find your motivation – what gets you out of bed in the morning. Your Heart Number is your jet fuel. Although we may not experience this energy of yours directly unless we know you well, we will all experience it indirectly through the Expression number, because our inner world influences our outer world. When a karmic number is found here, it is believed to carry past-life implications, meaning that you have put a sticky note on this incarnation to right some wrong in another life, and it is possible the people in your life now were part of that situation.
This number force can also hint at what we need to feel safe and secure when navigating the world. It can also show how we love and want to be loved. In some instances, when the Expression does not feel like 100% the right career choice, examine it in conjunction with the Heart Number. After all, the heart wants what the heart wants.
Destiny: This is the sum of all the letters in your name. Expression + Heart = Destiny. Add all the letters in your name to check your Expression and Heart numbers. If the number you arrive at does not equal the sum of the Expression and Heart, you’ve made a booboo somewhere in your calculations. This number force shows us what we are here to do in this incarnation. Oftentimes, it will dovetail very nicely with your career choice, but not always. The Destiny placement doesn’t have to match your career aspirations, but it can show the kind of flair you’ll bring to your work. Consider this number your success code: it can show your character, goals, and what you need to do to succeed in life.
